Dear fellow parishioners and friends,

A new chapel, dedicated to the Montreal Iveron Myrrh-Streaming Icon of the Mother of God has been recently built to memorialize all Orthodox Christians, laid to rest in the cemetery grounds together with the founders and benefactors of our Cathedral, gone to their rest. The chapel is located in the northeast corner of historic Rock Creek Cemetery. With God's help the exterior should be finished in about a month. We are hoping for a lesser blessing of the chapel in June and perhaps serve the first requium liturgy on June 18, Ancester's Saturday.

The chapel was designed by our parishioner, Irene Zarechnak and built by former parishioner Herman Ricketts, with help from our longtime parishioner and venerable master builder Adam Gootan.

The mosaics are the creation of Alexander Sokolov of Moscow. They were donated by a group of spiritual children of Archim. Nicholas Pekatoros, our longtime rector.

The cross was designed by Fr. Theodore Yurevich of Erie, PA. Ceramic icons will decorate the walls of the interior. They will be produced in Switzerland by Dominique Lopez, a close firend of the martyred Jose Cortez-Munoz, curator of the Montreal Icon. A Russo-Byzantine chorus purchased in Moscow will hang from the cupola's interior. The floor, altar table and table of protesis are made of Jerusalem limestone.

Glory be to God!
