The Akathist Icon of the Mother of God is in the icon screen
of the Chilandar Cathedral Church. It became known as the
"Akathist" Icon because in 1837, during a fire burning
in the church, an akathist hymn was read before it, and as a
consolation to the monks, the icon remained unscathed.
